Things People With Anxiety Want Their Friends to Know

We are not alone; we are all this together, and we can help and support one another in our individual and collective struggles together.

It may seem irrational to me, but what I'm anxious about is very real for me.
I never know when it's going to hit me. And when it does, I just need you to support me.
Don't give up on me when I isolate myself.
Just having someone you love and trust reminding you to breathe sometimes really helps.
Even when things are wonderful, I'm always waiting for something horrible to happen.
Sometimes when I'm feeling the anxiety, I have no idea why I'm anxious.
For real - it's not you, it's me. Generalised anxiety feels like drowning all the time.
Anxiety doesn't have a "look". I don't have to be trembling or hyperventilating to be anxious.
I need you to reach out to me, even when I'm so anxious I've stopped leaving the house.
I analyse things constantly because of anxiety. I cannot turn my brain off and it can be exhausting.
Anxiety is not an attitude.
Most of the time you won't know I'm having anxiety unless I tell you.
Sometimes I just need to be alone. It's not personal.
I'm still me. I'm not my anxiety.

Breathe Deeply

Just by breathing more and reminding yourself to breath deeply, you can help improve the overall wellness of your body. Breath deeply!

I find deep breathing useful to alleviate tiredness especially when I wake up in the morning and wait for the groggy feeling to dissipate, and the first ten minutes or so upon waking up would be an almost instinctual act of deep breathing before I would feel more awake. Similarly on weekdays I would endeavour to increase oxygen intake when taking breaks from the computer by walking up and down the stairs to get some exercise in the afternoon, which naturally causes me to breathe more deeply. Like what this blog shares, God is in our breathing, and oxygen can be seen as that aspect of God/Spirit that gives us life, healing and refreshment.
